Food Safety
Our staff follows strict food safety and food handling guidelines. Every person that enters our greenhouses must go through foot and hand sanitizing baths before entering the greenhouse.
Independent food safety audits are performed on both crop production and packing areas in our greenhouses. These audits require our growers to develop and implement extensive food safety plans.
Workers who come in contact with fresh vegetables must wear gloves and hair nets and remove all jewelry. Each greenhouse has strict policies that deal with employee hygiene and food safety training.
Our growers take special care to ensure that water storage, water purity, sanitation of harvesting tools, and the storage of food – along with many other items – exceed food safety expectations.
Thanks to our leadership in Integrated Pest Management systems, we are able to limit, and in some cases, eliminate the need for chemical pesticides.
BCGGA members are Canada Gap certified. Canada Gap is a food safety program for companies that produce and handle fruits and vegetables. It is designed to help implement and maintain effective food safety procedures within fresh produce operations.
Our growers and staff members take great pride in producing safe, quality food for millions of families worldwide.
We’re committed to growing safe and healthy food for your family and ours.
